ARCHITECTS — OIL, GAS & RESOURCES SECTORS — SINCE 1981

BUILDINGS ENGINEERED TO WITHSTAND WHAT THE PLANT MAY NOT.

Jackson Lane designs blast-resistant control buildings and offshore living quarters for the world’s major operators.

Where the brief begins with structural survival and ends with a work place where people can work safely and effectively.

Who We Are

Forty-five years inside the world's most demanding industrial sites.

The current owner directors established Jackson Lane Pty Ltd in 1981.
In the years since, the practice has built a deep base of architectural and engineering expertise, and is now engaged by many of Australia’s largest resources companies for specialised process control buildings and offshore accommodation projects.

Our work sits in a narrow, exacting niche: living quarters and related structures for offshore oil and gas, alongside onshore refinery and chemical process plant environments. For the past twenty years, our project workload has been almost exclusively devoted to oil and gas industry clients — where the highest standards are demanded.

We have collaborated over many years with a select group of similarly experienced engineering consultants to produce fully integrated Building Information Models.

What We Do

Five workplaces. one focus. operator safety.

Jackson Lane is Australia’s leading architectural practice for the design of blast-resistant buildings, for both offshore and onshore applications, in the petrochemical and mineral processing industries.

01

Blast Resistant Buildings

Fully engineered structures, analysed to ASCE guidelines, withstanding external blast loads defined for each specific site location.

02

Process Control Buildings

Central control buildings for refineries, chemical plants, and minerals processing facilities — control rooms built for operator safety and situation awareness.

03

Offshore Living Quarters

Marine accommodation modules engineered onshore, lifted and mated offshore — including Australia’s largest offshore quarters complex.

04

Laboratories

Refinery and process laboratories designed to current Australian standards, balancing safety, cleanliness, and analytical flexibility.

05

Modular Buildings

Prefabricated structures engineered in conjunction with specialist consulting engineers, built off-site and shipped to operating plants.

Blast Resistant Buildings

Fully engineered containment structures, analysed to ASCE guidelines, withstanding external blast loads defined for each specific site.

02

Process Control Buildings

Central control buildings for power stations, chemical plants and minerals processing facilities — control room interiors built for operator endurance.

03

Offshore Living Quarters

Marine accommodation modules engineered onshore, lifted and mated offshore — including Australia’s largest offshore quarters complex.

SCARBOROUGH LQ

Client — COSCO Shipping Shipyard (Nantong)

Engaged by the construction contractor, COSCO Shipping China as specialist Architectural consultant for design review of the accommodation module being constructed for Woodside.

QAL CONTROL BUILDING

Engaged by Queensland Alumina Limited for the
design of a new Central Control Building at the
Gladstone Alumina Refinery in Qld, Australia.

LONGFORD SUB STATIONS

Engaged by ABB for detailed design of several blast resistant switchgear buildings at the Longford Gas Plant, Victoria. Modules were fabricated in China, fitted out in Gosford, NSW and road freighted to the plant for assembly and commissioning.

GAZA FIELD HOSPITAL

A research project initiated by Jackson Lane for the construction and deployment of a prototype emergency field hospital in response to recent humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Ukraine. Leveraging our experience with modular buildings, logistics and regional suppliers.

EGA CONTROL BUILDING

Engaged by Emirates Global Aluminium, UAE for the design of the Operations Management Centre and 5 Field Operations Buildings for the new Al Taweelah Alumina refinery project in Abu Dhabi.

Award-Winning Project

WORSLEY ALUMINA CENTRAL CONTROL BUILDING

I&E Systems Pty Ltd engaged Jackson Lane for preliminary and detailed design of a major new central control building at the Worsley Alumina plant, Western Australia — completed 2006.
